They Say the Best Love Is Insane

Chui and I watched TFiOS on its first day, as what my movie ticket shows. *throws confetti* Heaven knows how long I waited for that and at first I was afraid that I might be disappointed of it being made into a film. Thank God it’s close to perfection.

The movie was insanely good. Two years had passed and the book still gave me that same feeling I experienced when I first read it — perpetual sadness. It’s mind-blowingly awesome and definitely one of the best book-to-movie adaptations I have seen. I’m not even overplaying everything I’m saying here. It’s really good. The casts, the  music, almost everything. Shailene and Ansel were perfect for the roles. There was no trace of the Prior siblings, trust me. AND Ed Sheeran’s song as one of the official soundtracks? God must have favored the Nerdfighters when the whole production team was working on it.

How about a selfie from us?

Our eyes were still kind of puffy after crying so hard during the movie. We even waited for the credits to finish before we get out of the theatre. Chui was kidding that maybe there’s a part two. Haha! We both had a good cry. It’s not like we planned on bringing the Nile River there. It’s just that we just found ourselves swimming in the pool of our own tears. We watched at SM BF and tried their 32-seat theatre, which they call the Director’s Club. Their La-Z Boy leather couches were overly comfortable. How I wished I had those pampering sofas at home.

There were a few dialogues that were changed and several scenes that were cut, as per usual. It’s totally understandable to do that since it’s quite a long book. But what I can’t comprehend is the fact that John’s cameo made it to the cutting department. That just made me sad. I was waiting for him to appear on screen and wow. I got nothing. Again, it’s sad. But it didn’t make the movie less of a great movie that it was.

I think it’s plain disappointing that majority of the people I know who have read the book only focused on that cigarette metaphor that Augustus never failed to point out. What about water? I see it’s not given enough emphasis. I truly believe that John Green is some sort of a genius to be that amazing. Two drowning teens in a drowning city. Perfectly crafted.

Okay. ― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

PS: Dear best friend, okay? Okay.

Leave The Memories Alone, Don’t Change A Thing

Day 29, May 29th, Wednesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post

The blog post title comes from the song Leave The Memories Alone by Fuel.

Music is a total constant. That’s why we have such a strong visceral connection to it, you know? Because a song can take you back instantly to a moment, or a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in your or the world, that one song says the same, just like that moment. — Sarah Dessen (Just Listen)

To The Person In The Bell Jar

Day 26, May 26th,  Sunday: Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you’d like.

There’s this twitter account dedicated to the ever brilliant Sylvia Plath. This is definitely one of my favorites. Every single time there’s a new tweet, I can’t help but retweet it. I think I’ve done it to almost 75% of all that account’s tweets. Sometimes there were moments when I just feel like scrolling its page and reading each and every entry there is, and checking whether I’ve retweeted it. It’s like whatever’s written there was everything that I couldn’t put into words. I wish I could write like her. Long live, Sylvia Plath. You’ll forever be remembered.

Is anyone anywhere happy? — Sylvia Plath

Let Me Paint You A Picture

*Neil Buchanan’s voice* This is an Art Attack. THIS is an Art Attack. THIS IS Art Attack!!!

Hi there, reader! So, somebody called me a little crazy last time for reading an Accounting book this vacation. She’s somewhat right at some point, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I really should pay more attention to making the most of my remaining vacation days.

I’ve always loved painting book covers ever since  that day last year. I was reviewing for a test in the midst of a strong typhoon when I got bored and remembered that I still had Acrylic paint from my Humanities project. It was fun, I must say. Now that boredom usually kicks in, and I’m not in the mood to read anything (I don’t know why, though), I started painting book covers again. I know these aren’t all pleasing to the eyes but forgive me I just love doing this. It’s funny how most of my favorite books have minimalist covers and they were not being a pain in the neck. I’m not really into painting but because of these books that have a big part in my heart, I’ve come to love the brushes, colors, mixer. Just everything.

ImageDespite the messy look my room had achieved, it gave me that sense of fulfillment. It’s weird but for once, it felt like I’m a part of something big. Weird.

ImageThanks to Jerry Spinelli’s book designer for making such easy covers. Plain but immensely adorable.

Also, John Green’s movie adaptation of TFiOS’ release is getting near. How near? Oh I don’t know, but both Gus and Hazel’s role were revealed. Shailene Woodley is playing Tris while Ansel Elgort is playing Gus. Being Tris and Caleb Prior in Veronica Roth’s Divergent, I hope we won’t feel awkward watching TFiOS and then Divergent. Either way, we’d love to watch both movies ASAP. A collaboration between two wonderful authors wouldn’t hurt too!

ImageNow this is by far my favorite painting. Hihi. Like Craig, I like making maps. Close enough to the original, isn’t it? 🙂

ImageThere you go! I can’t wait to get myself an album so I can neatly keep them there. Yikes!

Our truest response to the irrationality of the world is to paint or sing or write, for only in such response do we find truth. — Madeleine L’Engle

What do we have here?

Day 21, May 21st, Tuesday: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archives.

This blog consists of my everyday life and I don’t really have favorites. I don’t know why I listed these posts below, though. Haha! I just feel like including the days when I felt really happy.

In no particular day.

Memories, even your most precious ones, fade surprisingly quickly. But I don’t go along with that. The memories I value most, I don’t ever see them fading. — Kazuo Ishiguro (Never Let Me Go)

Fantastic Five

Day 19, May 19th, Sunday: Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them.

In no particular order.

Jackie Bui of Buitiful Confessions

Hi reader, I reckon you already know Jackie because of my Day 5, where I publicly professed my love for this gal. WHIP-SMART. That’s what I love about her. Her writing style reminds me of the ones I read in books. I think I’ve mentioned a million times how much I adore her. All I know is that Jackie, my online twin, serves as one of my inspirations in maintaining this blog. Remember! She’s the first person I look up to in terms of blogging. Anyway, just look at her new haircut. Isn’t she gorgeous? I got it from her facebook account

Read her blog or you’ll miss the amazing things life has to offer. 😉

Lara of Deep Fried Jupiter

Aside from Jackie, this girl is also my favorite even until now. I first learned about her when I was just a newcomer in tumblr. Her blog consists of her experiences, advice,  basketball, basketball, and basketball. She’s a journalism major in UST. Running and playing basketball (obviously) keep her sane. I love the way she writes, and the manner she expresses herself. I can say how honest she is when I read her posts. Her taste in graphic design always gets me. Oh pink. She’s also into photography. This pretty Joyce Jimenez look-alike will definitely capture your heart.

And oh!! I got this photo of her and her boyfriend from her tumblr. I JUST LOVE LARA AND KRISTEN. They have this type of relationship every girl dreams of.

Mikkey of Isang Malaking Microwave

This is Kuya Mikkey. He has to be one of the most sarcastic persons I know. He’s a huge PBA fan. He’s never afraid to say what’s on his mind. He usually writes in Tagalog. Visit his page and you’ll find yourself laughing at his wit. His gif of himself inside the fridge while welcoming the summer is just sajhfgashdhjhlfsa. I laughed until my side hurts. He’s always been a concerned citizen of this country. (wait I’m cracking up with what I’ve just said) You’ll often read politics-related posts in his blog. I admire his honesty and practicality.

Gio of  Tomorrow Never Knows

This lad here is Gio. He wants to be a journalist someday, a dream I didn’t pursue because I love Accounting more. I can somehow see myself in him. Driven and frank. He’s a bookworm too! He can be very random at times, but when he writes, you’ll ask yourself if he’s read what’s on your mind. Everyone can relate. It’s like he’s been through a great deal of struggles at an early age. I seriously don’t know what to write in here since we’ve been twitter acquaintances only for a few months. I think he’s pretty smart too, though HE LOATHES MATH. (Oh well I love Math.)

Read his blog.

John Brix of Put Your Cape On and Fly

This young man here is my non-biological little brother. He followed me a few months back on twitter. He loves John Green and Algebra as much as I do! *applause* I think I haven’t even thanked him for being such a supportive friend to me. I can vent my feelings, vanities, and whatnot. He’s quite mature for his age, and I really appreciate everything he’s done for me. Whenever I’m feeling low, he’s just there, always telling me KAPIT-BISIG. 🙂

Dear kapatid,

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Big sis is always here to listen or whenever you need any help!! Don’t hesitate, okay? Stay awesome!  Mwah! 🙂

PS: I felt like a stalker finding photos of these people. Reasons behind.

  1. Jackie’s photo was from her facebook account. She just recently cut her long hair and it’s sweet that she even messaged me about cutting it and telling we’re really twins. 😉
  2. I think I’ve mentioned it already. Kristen and Lara. Lara and Kristen. Adorable, eh? 🙂
  3. Kuya Mikkey’s photo is what’s in her sidebar in tumblr. Just see for yourself. Also, I think the pitcher’s cute.
  4. I think Gio’s cute in that photo. He looks genuinely innocent.

Oh just don’t mind me, reader. Read their lovely blogs instead. DFTBA!! xx
